The BET+ Product team was looking to increase customer/user engagement with their featured content. By utilizing video previews we were able to transfix their eyes to engage in content.

The Results: Motion Draws Eyes

After showcasing numerous prototypes to the Product team it was decided that the MVP would be starting with CTV, and Web. If there was enough resources they would then build out the Native and Mobile experiences. The first platform to get the new feature was the iOS CTV. With the help of some keen developers we were able to update the experience for iOS users.

Engagement went up on CTV iOS devices by 18% this increase could be attributed to the adoption of the Autoplay Feature.

Prototypes: Action Speaks Louder Than Words

I’ve enjoyed building prototypes before but when looking at the brief for this project. I couldn’t help but loving the thought of being able to create a working prototype that shows videos and remotes. Having an experience that’s nearly similar to the live build was crucial to showcasing these ideas and getting product support.

Research: Competition Collection

Before I created any mockups or prototypes, I had to discovery within the competitive space how other companies had solved the problem. After over 50 screenshots and building out a matrix that cross examined different platforms for different companies I was able to provide a clear picture of who uses Autoplay on what platform and how it works.
